One booking gets the whole facility. Hall, kitchen, green, carpark, tables and chairs.
It is run by a volunteer committee, mostly the people who use it: nobody is paid, nobody takes a cut, and what you pay goes straight into running the place. That isn’t a discount. It’s what it costs when the people who own the problem are the same people who use the hall.

Hire rates
These are the committee’s approved rates. One hourly rate whatever the length of the booking. You pay for the hours you use, so a short meeting costs what a short meeting should.

Regular and long-term users pay less per hour because they book week in, week out. That reliability is worth a lot to a volunteer committee.
Want the hall set up before you arrive? A Hub volunteer can potentially do it for $50, depending on who is available. Ask when you book. Setting up yourself costs nothing.
Bond
The bond is $200, or $500 if alcohol is served. It covers cleaning, damage or noise problems. If none of those happen you get all of it back.
It comes back by bank transfer. Give us your account details when you book, and it is returned once the hall has been checked after your event. If anything has to be held back, we tell you what and why first.
When you can book
The hall isn’t staffed. Nobody is here unless a booking is on, so there are no opening hours, just a window you can book inside.
Bookings normally run 8am to 8pm. Need an earlier start or a later finish? Ask when you enquire. It is often possible, it just has to be arranged rather than assumed.
Amplified noise stops at 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm Friday, Saturday and public holidays, whatever time you started.
Insurance
The Hub holds $20 million public liability insurance. That covers the buildings and the grounds, meaning a fault or a defect with the hall itself.
It does not cover your event. Whatever you run here, the public liability that goes with it is yours. You agree to that in the conditions of hire.
Running something organised or commercial, like a market, a class, a clinic, a stall, or anything you charge for? You are expected to hold your own cover, and we may ask to see the certificate. $20 million is the standard. Contractors, caterers and entertainers you bring in need their own too.
Hiring for a birthday or a family gathering? We won’t ask you for a certificate, but the responsibility above still sits with you.
Conditions of hire
Public liability
Upon hiring the hall you are aware that you are responsible for any public liability. The Hub’s cover is for the buildings and grounds; it does not extend to your event, your guests, or anyone you bring in. See Insurance above.
Leaving it clean
Leave the Hub clean and tidy. Rubbish goes in the external bins or home with you.
Noise
All amplified noise stops at 10pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11pm Friday, Saturday and public holidays. Amplified music may be permitted; keep to EPA Victoria’s requirements. If you are asked to turn it down and don’t, it may cost you the bond.
Equipment and decorations
Electrical equipment you bring must be tested and tagged, with leads secured. Decorations are welcome, but must not damage the building and must come down before you leave.
No fireworks, confetti cannons, smoke machines or dry ice.
Security
You are responsible for your guests. For evening events and anything with alcohol we strongly recommend qualified security, a good guide being two staff per 100 guests, and a Victoria Police Party Safe registration. It is free, takes a few minutes online, and needs doing at least a week before.
Smoking
No smoking or vaping inside the buildings, or by the entrances. Keep well clear of doorways so it doesn’t drift back inside.
And the usual
Park lawfully and don’t block driveways. Nuisance or antisocial behaviour isn’t on, and we ask guests to leave quietly out of respect for the neighbours. No heavy plant, hazardous goods or dangerous substances.
Milestone birthdays
18th, 21st and 30th birthday bookings are considered case by case by the committee, and may be declined.
We’re not trying to be difficult. These carry more risk for a volunteer-run building. Send an enquiry and tell us about it. The committee looks at the security you are arranging and the style of the party, then the Booking Officer comes back to you.
An enquiry for one of these is never an automatic yes. Please don’t book anything else around it until you hear from us.
Registering with Victoria Police
If we approve one, we’ll ask you to register the party with Victoria Police Party Safe and send us the confirmation before the booking is confirmed. It is free, takes a few minutes, and needs doing at least a week before.
It is a condition of hire for these bookings, and we would rather say so up front than spring it on you. It doesn’t apply to children’s parties.
How to book
Check your date and request it. The calendar shows what is already taken. Prefer to talk it through first? Send an enquiry; it reaches the same person.
A volunteer comes back with your price and bond, usually within 2 to 3 business days. Nothing is confirmed until they confirm it in writing. The fee and bond are paid before it is final, and access is arranged with you before the day.
Cancellations
Proposed, and going to the committee: cancel 7 or more days before your booking and you get a full refund. Inside 7 days a $50 fee applies, because by then we have usually turned other people away for your date. The bond always comes back.
